Looking at my results I see that I am Active, Sensing, Visual and Sequential learner.
In my classes I usually get a mix of students with these learning styles.
Active and Reflective Learners tend to retain and understand information best by doing something active with it-discussing or applying it or explaining it to others. Reflective learners prefer to think about it quietly first.
One of the strategies I use in my class is Think-Pair-Share. This strategy allows for students who are reflective to have some time and think about the problem, but it also includes an opportunity for the active learners to discuss and share their thoughts.
Sensing leraners tend to like learning facts, intutive learners often prefer discovering possiblities and relationships.
When learning vocabuary in a class I tend to use a graphic organizer and reach out to the sensing learners, but before moving on I might show a video to connect all the concepts so that I can reach all my students. In science this could be applied by going over words like mutualism, but before going on to the next lesson I would show a video on what this looks like in the natural environment.
A lot of these strategies and techniques cross over to the different learners; as a teacher it is my job to be mindful of all the different methods and incorporate them when I see fit.
